Last week, amidst the serene backdrop of Blackwater Falls State Park, our team huddled together to chart the path ahead.
It was a much-needed moment of solidarity and clarity in these turbulent times, giving us space to tackle the looming threats to clean water. We know the stakes are high, and 2024 is a year we’re determined to make count.
In the next year, we’re rolling up our sleeves to back West Virginia communities crafting PFAS Action Plans. We’ll continue to closely monitor the final stages of the Mountain Valley Pipeline, helping ensure the protection of our streams, lands, and the communities along its path as workers rush to complete the project in muddy and wintery conditions. Collaborating within the Ohio River Basin coalitions, we are working towards a regional and community-driven solution for the restoration of the Ohio River. The ARCH2 fracked gas project is also under our watchful eye, and our science team diligently reviews permits to hold big corporations accountable for the contamination they’re discharging into our environment.
We know our water isn’t just ours — West Virginia’s headwater streams supply drinking water to about 15 million Americans, and as West Virginians, we hold a deep, unwavering connection and commitment to our land, water, and people.
With support from friends like you, we’re championing statewide efforts that ensure access to clean water and healthy streams for current and future generations.
