At a public meeting on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health scientists will present the results of studies exploring health impacts of human exposure to environmental risk factors, including shale gas development activities, in an eight-county region in Southwest Pennsylvania.

The meeting will be held in person at the Performance Center on the second floor of the Natali Student Center on the PennWest California University campus, 250 University Ave, California, PA 15419, and live-streamed for virtual attendees.

After the meeting, join the Moms & Dads – Family Awareness of Cancer Threat Spike (MAD FACTS) group at the California United Methodist Church, 227 3rd St, California, PA 15419, to discuss the results and process what was learned.

Join us in welcoming Aaron Makatura, our new Project Coordinator for Appalachia!

Aaron earned a BS in biology from Penn State University. He began his career as an Environmental Health Specialist with the Allegheny County Health Department’s Housing and Community Environment Program, where he responded to complaints and promoted community well-being for the residents of Allegheny County. Afterwards, he transferred to the ACHD Air Quality Program and served as an Air Quality Technician, conducting inspections of a variety of facilities and activities to ensure compliance with relevant air quality regulations. Aaron is excited to bring his regulatory knowledge and experience to EHP to help educate and empower local communities.
