September 8th is the start of our resistance to GHG and climate change

On Thursday, September 8, 2022 the Stop MVP coalition and People vs. Fossil Fuels coalition will convene in Washington, D.C. for ‘No Sacrifice Zones: Appalachian Resistance Comes to DC,’ to stop the MVP, show massive public opposition to Manchin’s pipeline side deal, unite the Appalachian frontlines and show how all sacrifice zones are connected so all of our voices and stories can be heard.
But we know not everyone will be able to make it to DC. Luckily, there’s a lot you can do to support our resistance remotely. We will continue to update this list in the run-up to the event.
1. Share the event on social media.
2. Join this lunchtime Virtual Rally on Sept. 8, 12 p.m. EST and learn about the basics of the ”permitting reform” proposal and the Mountain Valley Pipeline and then call their Congress members together.
3. West Virginia Residents (current, former, friends of): Sign the West Virginians Against the Manchin-Schumer “Dirty Energy” Side Deal petition.
4. Send a letter to your Members of Congress calling on them to do all they can to block Senator Manchin’s dirty “permitting reform” proposal and stand with impacted and frontline communities!
5. Call your Members of Congress: Phone Number: 917-791-2257 ……
Call Script: Hi, my name is ____, & I’m from ____. As your constituent I’m calling to ensure that you do all you can to block Senator Manchin’s “permitting” proposal. Protecting our communities and climate is more important than giving another gift to the fossil fuel industry. Stand with the communities impacted by fossil fuels and the climate crisis and stop the dirty deal!
6. Ask your community to call their representatives and share these actions on social media
7. Sponser a ride to DC. Donate to 7 Directions of Service to support someone from the frontline of the MVP fight to attend the rally in DC.
8. Sign on to POWHR’s newsletter to stay up to date on the movement to #StopMVP

My Photos From The Appalachian’s Coming To DC Trip
The last few weeks have been so chaotic, but it all came together on Thursday in DC when hundreds of people showed up from across the country to stand up against #ManchinsDeadlyDeal.
I didn’t have much time to take pictures. While most people were ln meeting with Senators and Representatives I was at the DNC Convention as a guest of Jane Kleeb, RL Miller, and others. Selina Vickers was a great help with this too. I spent the morning there talking with Delegates, the Press and other very important people.
After Lunch my afternoon was consumed by a High Level Meeting at the White House. Our team included Dr. Crystal Cavalier, Russell Chisholm, From the MVP Fight. We were joined by the great John Beard and Sharon Levine from the Gulf Coast.
The rally was epic, but I’ll have to watch it later because I was busy talking to many high level officials, environmental and social justice attorneys and the press to watch the most of it.
I am almost home, but looks like I might be going back to Capitol Hill in a few day. Hope you enjoy these pictures. I will post a few more when I get them.
