Update on National Economic Transition (NET) in Public Interest

From the Center for Coalfield Justice, Washington, PA, July 1, 2020

This weekend is the July 4th holiday but this year more than ever, I am reflecting on how we are not truly free until all people are free to thrive in this country. This is why our work is so critical to build power in our communities to change the status quo in years to come.

On Monday, we joined other coal community leaders from across the country in releasing a historic platform for national economic transition. This platform took over a year of planning and brought together a diverse group of people to work through disagreement and resolve it with a vision towards the future in this plan.

Due to COVID-19 our DRYerson Festivities this year are taking a creative turn and we announced the DRYerson Scavenger Hunt. Let me know if you saw the ad in the Greene Scene. Check out more details here and good luck in the hunt.

We know the only way to truly protect our climate is to address the problem at the system level but as consumers, we do hold power in our individual choices.

July 1st just kicked off Plastic Free July. So think about what plastic you could eliminate from your daily routine this month.

Enjoy your holiday weekend following social distancing guidelines. Happy 4th of July!

The NET already has broad support, but there is a long road ahead.
